Your Facial Lymphatic Massage Guide
Decongest. Smooth. Redefine.
Our faces reflect our lifestyle: fatigue, stress, lack of sleep, muscle tension, and sluggish circulation. Over time, fluids circulate less efficiently, tissues become congested, features appear heavier, and contours less defined.
Facial lymphatic massage helps to reactivate this natural movement.
Practiced regularly, this ritual promotes:
- tissue decongestion
- reduction of swelling (dark circles, puffiness, cheeks)
- improved skin microcirculation
- a brighter complexion
- visibly firmer skin
- more defined and lifted features
At HYLÉRIA, we consider massage to be an extension of skincare: it doesn't replace active ingredients; it multiplies their effectiveness.
Before you begin
Ideal duration
5 to 10 minutes.
Recommended frequency
3 to 5 times a week.
Even 3 minutes already provide visible benefits. Frequency takes precedence over the length and intensity of the massage.
Which product to use?
Apply a few drops of your HYLÉRIA massage oil or your usual skincare product to allow for smooth gliding.
Pressure
Always light to moderate.
Lymphatic drainage relies on gentleness, never force.
Essential rule of lymphatic massage
- Above the jawline: movements are upward and outward to lift, tone, and stimulate circulation.
- Below the jawline (neck): movements are downward towards the collarbones to drain and evacuate.
Step 1 — Open the drainage pathways
Before evacuating, it's necessary to "open the gates" by stimulating the lymph nodes.
The main lymph nodes of the face and neck are located:
- in front of the ears
- behind the ears
- under the jaw
- on the sides of the neck
- above the collarbones, in line with the neck

Movement 1 — Collarbone pumping
Objective: activate the main facial drainage.
Place the index, middle, and ring fingers of each hand flat just above the collarbones, in the natural hollow at the base of the neck.
The fingertips are in contact with the skin.
Perform 8 gentle downward presses:
- gently depress the tissues
- slowly release
- allow the skin to return naturally
Breathe deeply.

Movement 2 — Neck opening
Objective:
- decongest the lower face
- prepare for overall drainage
Place the open palms on each side of the neck, just below the ears.
Hands are facing the face, with the palm and fingertips in contact with the skin for a soft, enveloping touch.
Slowly glide:
behind the ears → along the neck → to the collarbones
The movement follows the lateral neck muscles, never the center of the throat.
Repeat 5 times.

Step 2
— Decongest the eye contour
This is often the first area to show signs of fatigue because the skin there is the thinnest.
Massage objective:
- reduce puffiness
- lift eyelids
- refresh the eyes
Movement 3 — Eye contour drainage
3.1 Eyebrow lift
With the opposite hand, place your index and middle fingers under the eyebrow to hold it slightly lifted.
With the other hand, use your index finger to perform small circular pressures under the brow bone:
inner → outer
Then, with your fingers in a scissor shape (index + middle), palm facing outwards, drain along the eyebrow to the temple.
3.2 Under-eye puffiness drainage
With the pad of your index finger, hands facing the face for a very gentle touch:
Perform small tapping motions: inner corner → outer corner of the eye
The movement mimics a small roller. Do not press too hard, this area is delicate.
3.3 Dark circle furrow work
Place your index and middle fingers of the opposite hand in the middle of your cheek.
Gently lift your cheek towards your cheekbone to create a slight bulge under the dark circle.
With the index finger of the other hand placed vertically, perform small rolling taps:
inner face → outer
Like a mini roller that smooths out the furrow.
Repeat each movement 3 times.
Intermediate drainage
Pump 3 times:
- in front of the ears
- behind the ears
Then move down the neck towards the collarbones.

Step 3 — Refine and awaken radiance
With age, circulation slows in the mid-facial area. This results in a puffier face and a less radiant complexion.
Objectives:
- Refine the face by reducing water retention
- Reactify microcirculation to improve complexion
- Stimulate skin tone and elasticity
Movement 4 — Cheek smoothing
Place hands on either side of the nose. Hands are facing the face: fingertips and palm against the skin for a soft, enveloping, and draining contact.
Keeping hands pressed firmly on the face, slowly glide:
sides of the nose → cheekbones → ears
The movement is slightly upward.
Imagine gently pushing fluids towards the drainage areas.
Repeat 6 times.
Intermediate drainage
Pump the lymph nodes near the ears 3 times, then move down the neck.

Step 4 — Redefine the oval of the face
Loss of skin tone, which is entirely normal after age 35, can affect the oval of the face.
Objectives:
- Redefine the oval of the face
- Refine the lower face
- Stimulate skin tone and elasticity
Movement 5 — Mandibular sculpting
Form a scissor shape with your index and middle fingers, palm facing outwards, fingers slightly bent to use the angle of the knuckles.
Place your jaw between your index and middle fingers.
Slowly glide:
chin → mandibular angle (below the ear)
The movement should sculpt the jawline.
Repeat 5 times.
Intermediate drainage
Pump:
- under the jaw
- behind the ears
- neck towards collarbones

Step 5 — Smooth furrows and expression lines
Wrinkles are the mechanical result of muscles contracting according to our emotions. Relaxing the muscles and massaging the skin help to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Objectives:
- soften furrows
- release tension
Movement 6 — Nasolabial folds
Form a scissor shape with your index and middle fingers, palm facing outwards.
Place:
- your index finger above the nasolabial fold
- your middle finger below
The furrow is thus "framed".
While maintaining slight upward lifting pressure, glide diagonally:
corner of the nose → cheekbone → temples
The movement should:
- slightly lift the crease
- smooth the area
- lift the tissues towards the cheekbone
Do not pull horizontally.
Instead, think of an oblique lift upward and outward.
Repeat 6 times.
Intermediate drainage
Pump the lymph nodes near the ears 3 times, then move down the neck.

Step 6 — Forehead wrinkles
The forehead accumulates a lot of tension and shows our expressions. Here we address the two main wrinkles: frown lines (vertical between the eyebrows) and horizontal wrinkles.
Objectives:
- Relieve forehead tension
- Reduce horizontal wrinkles
- Smooth frown lines
Movement 7 — Forehead smoothing
For horizontal wrinkles, place your hands in the center of your forehead.
Glide:
center → temples
Then, for frown lines:
With your index fingers slightly bent, palm outwards, use the first two knuckles.
Perform a vertical smoothing motion:
between the eyebrows → hairline
Then, with your fingers in a scissor shape, index and middle fingers bent, glide along your eyebrows from the center outwards.
Repeat 6 times.

Final drainage
Essential to properly evacuate mobilized fluids.
Pump the lymph nodes again:
- in front of the ears
- behind the ears
- under the jaw
- sides of the neck
- above the collarbones
Then perform 3 slow descents from the neck towards the collarbones.
